KKCOBVR Q3 Pro Review: A Unique Battery Strap, Now Better
The KKCOBVR Q3 Pro combines a comfortable small-head fit, a lift-up Quest mechanism and a 37 Wh battery. The current revision fixes the slipping headset adjustment and makes the front strap optional, although some units need a small tension adjustment.

Quick verdict
The KKCOBVR Q3 Pro is one of the most unusual battery head straps I have used with the Quest 3. It is a compact halo strap with a comfortable fit, a battery behind the head and a mechanism that lets me lift the Quest away from my face without taking the strap off. It is especially useful for mixed reality, or whenever I need to move quickly between the headset and the real world.
The first model had two serious problems: the headset-distance adjustment could slip under pressure, and the lifting mechanism was too loose to hold the Quest up without the front strap. The current revision fixes both. The distance adjustment now holds properly, and I can use the lift-up function without the front strap. Some new units arrive with the lifting mechanism too tight, but the tension can be adjusted with three screws.
For my small head, this remains one of the most comfortable battery straps I have tested (update: in the middle of 2026 it’s still my number 1 in terms of comfort and adjustments!). It is not the best choice for lying down, and its battery is not as powerful as the one in the BOBOVR S3 Pro, but the Q3 Pro offers a combination of comfort and quick headset adjustment that I have not found elsewhere.
The lift-up design is genuinely useful
The main reason to choose the Q3 Pro is this lift-up mechanism. I can raise the Quest to look at a phone, a monitor or the room around me, then bring it back down without removing the head strap. I use this more often than I expected, especially because I regularly switch between the headset and a computer while I am working.
The visor-distance adjustment is also useful with no facial interface installed. That makes the Q3 Pro a good fit for mixed reality and development work (where I may want to check something in a real world or on a monitor quickly). I can also remove the detachable parts for cleaning or use it with a magnetic facial interface such as Globular Cluster GCF3.
When the Quest is lifted, the balance is not as good as when it is in the normal position. It becomes front-heavy or back-heavy depending on how far I move it, so I avoid making large head movements with the visor raised. That is still a worthwhile feature to have.
Comfort and fit
For me, the Q3 Pro is very comfortable, and it is particularly promising for people with smaller heads. The rear section is compact, the padding is comfortable even though it is a little firmer than some alternatives, and the battery weight does not make the strap feel front-heavy. The battery itself weighs about 183 grams.
The top strap is comfortable but optional. I used it at first, then removed it, and the halo strap remained comfortable for me without it. The rear adjustment knob is fairly loud and feels a little loose while I turn it, but once I set the strap it holds my head securely.
The fit is also stable during fitness games as long as I do not push the visor. For very active workouts, an elite-style strap may still be a better choice for some people, but I found the Q3 Pro stable enough for my own use.
The main comfort limitation is lying down. The battery is thicker than the one on the BOBOVR S3 Pro, and the knob is outside so it presses into a pillow more than I would like. This is a strap for sitting, standing and moving around—not for using the Quest while resting my head on a pillow.
Battery performance
The Q3 Pro uses a 10,000 mAh battery rated at 3.7 volts, or about 37 Wh. I measured 31.85 Wh from it, which is 86.1% efficiency. That is within the normal range for this type of battery, and its capacity is close to the B100 battery from BOBOVR.
The important difference is output power. The Q3 Pro is rated for 15 W, but I measured a maximum of 14.4 W when the battery was full. During most use it delivered roughly 13–14 W, while the Quest can draw more during demanding games, mixed reality or with Quest Optimizer. It is therefore not as powerful as the battery in the BOBOVR S3 Pro.
Charging the battery from empty to full took about 3 hours and 32 minutes in my test. The USB-C port can also work as an output for another small device, and the battery is hot-swappable. In my testing, adding it to a Quest session that would normally last about two hours brought the total time close to five and a half hours.
There is a battery-level button and indicator, and the cable connected to the Quest is output-only. That is useful because the Quest cannot try to charge the strap battery through that cable if the battery becomes empty.
Build quality and everyday use
The Q3 Pro is smaller and visually different from most halo straps. The white plastic does not perfectly match the Quest 3: it is slightly grayer and shinier, with a somewhat retro look. I do not think the appearance is its strongest point, but the structure feels OK and the weight balance is good.
The front strap is removable, as are the top strap and other padded parts. That makes cleaning easier and lets me keep only the parts I actually need. With a magnetic facial interface, I can also move between a more open mixed-reality setup and a normal facial interface quickly.
The visor-distance knobs are still audible when adjusted, but the important difference is that they now hold their position. I can set the distance once and use the headset without constantly correcting it.
KKCOBVR Q3 Pro vs BOBOVR S3 Pro
These are very different head straps. The BOBOVR S3 Pro has a higher-quality feel, a more powerful battery and active cooling.
The Q3 Pro is the one I would choose for its lift-up design, headset-distance adjustment and compact comfort. For my small head, it is more comfortable, and I use the ability to move the Quest out of the way more often than I expected. The S3 Pro is the better choice if battery power, cooling and overall refinement matter more than those unique adjustments.
Should you buy the current Kkcob Q3 Pro?
Yes, if you want a comfortable halo strap with a battery and a genuinely useful way to lift the Quest for a quick look at the real world. The current revision fixes the two serious weaknesses I found in the original unit, so I would not judge the present version by those old problems.
I would still allow time for a small tension adjustment if the lift mechanism arrives too tight. Once that is set correctly, the Q3 Pro becomes one of the most distinctive and comfortable straps I have used. It is not ideal for lying down, and the battery is not the strongest available, but for my fit, the current Q3 Pro is an easy recommendation.
